The most important and fundamental office that Jesus Christ holds is that of God. In John 8:58 Jesus said: “Before Abraham was, I am.” This is a proclamation that he was indeed God, for in Exodus 3:14 we read: “And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.” He also tells the Jews in John 5:39 to “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” There is no doubt that Jesus Christ was God.
