Most folks that believe in God also believe that God intervenes in the lives of individuals and societies to either punish or reward them according to their works. This is a common belief in Christianity also.
But if God places you in Christ and imputes the righteousness of Christ to you when you believe, this creates a problem for that doctrine. If God punishes or chastens you and you are in Christ, He would have to punish or chasten Christ. But He already did that at Calvary for your sins.
Rom 8:33: “Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.” Christ is God’s elect, and if you are in Christ, nothing can be laid to your charge, so why would God chasten you?
God has intervened to give us the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, and He will again intervene to complete that gift when he redeems our bodies. He will also intervene to punish those who rejected Him and to reward the saints. This all happens at the day of the Lord.
God does and will intervene in exactly the way He reveals that He will in His Word. We cannot go beyond what God has revealed to imagine blessings and cursings on the body of Christ.
